KGI Coordinates Hurricane Melissa Relief Drive

Updated: 11/24/2025

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our team members, partners, and donors, our Hurricane Melissa Relief Drive is already making a positive impact on the ground in Jamaica.

Last week, KGI dispatched its third and largest shipment to date to the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), a Miami-based nonprofit organization working on the ground in Jamaica in partnership with Food for the Poor.

This shipment included:
•    8 pallets of personal care products donated by Chemco;
•    2 pallets of bottled water provided by Blue River Springs; and
•    Additional mixed supplies contributed by KGI team members

Our second shipment has now arrived in Jamaica and is being processed for distribution, while the first shipment has already been delivered to the parish of St. Elizabeth, one of the hardest-hit regions. Local partners, including activist and relief mobilizer Emprezz Golding, have begun distributing essential items such as underwear, toothbrushes, batteries, and other necessities to families in urgent need.

We are currently assembling our fourth shipment, planned for dispatch next week. There is an especially high need for tarps, water boots, and building materials. As Hurricane Melissa begins to recede from international headlines, we remain committed to supporting Jamaican communities as they continue to recover and rebuild.

Hurricane Melissa, one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in the Atlantic, recently made landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds around 185 mph. The storm caused catastrophic damage across the island, leaving tens of thousands displaced and entire communities without access to power, water, or essential supplies. As recovery efforts begin, global attention has turned to supporting those most affected by this historic disaster.

In response, K.G. International (KGI) is coordinating a Hurricane Melissa Relief Drive to collect and ship essential supplies to Jamaica during the month of November. The first shipment of supplies, consisting of bottled water, diapers, canned food, personal care products, and cleaning supplies, will set sail for Jamaica this week and will be followed by subsequent weekly shipments. Once the supplies are in Jamaica, they will be disseminated through local non-governmental organizations and community leaders, including the Breds Foundation and Emprezz Golding.

We invite our friends and business partners to join us in this vital effort to provide relief to Jamaicans in need. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for individuals and families rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. In-kind donations may be delivered to our warehouse, or we can schedule a pickup upon request. Here is a list of items being requested at this time:

  • Personal Care & Hygiene
  • Clothing
  • Baby & Child Products
  • Food & Water
  • Health & First Aid
  • Household Supplies & Cleaning

If you are interested in supporting this initiative, please call (1 305 499-9816) or email (info@kgint.com) to coordinate next steps.
