It is a clear, colorless to pale yellow lightweight liquid that is freely soluble in oils and organic solvents but insoluble in water. It functions primarily as an emollient, binder, and thickener, and is widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations such as lotions, creams, lip products, and color cosmetics. It imparts a dry, non-greasy skin feel and enhances the spreadability of formulations.
